Applications are invited for a temporary supernumerary post of Trainee Management Accountant in the Accountant General’s Department.
Reporting directly to a Senior Management Accountant or other Accountants, the successful candidate will be required to assist in the preparation of the accounts of the Consolidated Fund, the Contributory Pension Fund, the Public Service Superannuation Fund and other Public Funds as necessary. The successful candidate will also assist in the development and review of financial systems and controls in the Accountant General’s Office and various Government Departments.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Business Administration or have completed all examinations of a recognized professional accounting body or be close to achieving this. Applicants are preferred who possess a minimum of two to three (2-3) years’ experience in an accounting/auditing environment. Strong accounting skills are required. Hands on experience with the AS400 and Windows based computer applications would be a definite asset.
During a 2 – 3 year period, the Government will assist the trainee (both financially and with study leave) in obtaining an accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA, or ACCA, etc.) After the three-year (3) training period and obligatory underfill period, the post holder, if eligible, may apply for the post of Management Accountant in the Accountant General’s Department or other comparable accounting positions within the Government.
